MANDURAH DOLPHIN RESCUE GROUP (MVDRG)

Sharon’s artwork for the Wetland Stories exhibition explores the work by the Mandurah Volunteer Dolphin Rescue Group. Using projection photography, Sharon has photographed portraits of members of the group who work tirelessly to protect the dolphin population in the Peel-Yalgorup Ramsar Wetlands. Sharon will give insights to the creative process behind these portraits, along with other works in the exhibition.
Robyn Bickel is a long time volunteer of Mandurah Volunteer Dolphin Rescue Group, she will share stories about local Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins, from rescues and citizen projects to taking action through local cleanups. Learn how the community can get involved to help conserve the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins.

Sharon’s artwork for the Wetland Stories exhibition explores the work by community group Coastal Waste Warriors. The exhibition includes a portrait of Kirstin Field, founder of the Coastal Waste Warriors, along with a piece inspired by the Lucas Legacy Clean Up. Sharon will give insights to the creative process behind these works along with other pieces displayed in the exhibition.
Coastal Waste Warriors has now been operating for over 4 years and through their monthly clean ups have collected over 4 tonnes of litter and 1000,000 individual pieces of litter. Hear their moving and inspiring story of how the group came to be and how it has evolved into a movement with several hundred volunteers who are reducing the litter and marine debris in our local waterways. Learn how you can become involved and make a difference.​​

from WA Seabird Rescue Mandurah Volunteers

Join us at the Wetland Stories exhibition as Mandurah Seabird Rescue volunteers share their experiences with the local bird population. You will hear stories that are funny, heartwarming and sad, but all will enhance our understanding of the wildlife who share this region with us.

Textile and mixed media artist will be on hand to provide short tours to highlight the stories behind the artists' works in the exhibition for those interested. ​​​

Please join Marie for a personal perspective on the role art plays in shaping the future. Contemporary Mixed Media and Textile Artist, Marie Mitchell, will share the inspiration and stories behind the artworks in the gallery. You will discover how what began with a move to downsize became a two-year project to collect and illustrate local stories from the Peel Region. Marie will also share some of the processes used to create the works.

Celebrate
the Story of
Reclaiming the Dunes

Bouvard Coastcare was started by a band of thoughtful residents 30 years ago.
​
The volunteer group looks after 17km of dunal system from the Dawes Cut to
the southern city border, in conjunction with the City of Mandurah. This presentation is the story of the challenges faced and the achievements over our long history and their importance for the climate change issues of today.
​
Textile and mixed media artist will be on hand to provide short tours to highlight the stories behind the artists' works in the exhibition for those interested. ​​

Uncovering Thievery, Piracy and other Behaviours of Wetland Birds and Dolphins through the Eye of a Drone

Please join us to learn about Ben Roennfeldt's experiences of surveying birds and other wetland wildlife using using drones.

Overview: Complex relationships occur between our wetland birds and animals, which often go unnoticed. Through a drones-eye, we will discover that life is not always fair on the water, especially for those that fish for a living.
